WORLD SERIES ODDS AFTER A MONTH OF BASEBALL
We have just over a month of baseball under our belts. There are plenty of surprises as teams get into the swing of things, so let’s take a look at the updated World Series odds.
Back in February, we took a look at the preseason World Series odds, and there have been some big changes since then. Some teams are overperforming, some teams are underperforming, and some teams are performing just as expected.

Teams Trending Up
There are plenty of teams off to a hot start this season, and their World Series odds reflect that. The Dodgers, Braves, and Orioles are all teams we expected to be trending up as the season went on. The Yankees and Mariners are also headed in the right direction, but that is not a big surprise, either.
The Phillies are 26-11, and they currently hold a three-game lead in the National League East over the Braves. Alec Bohm and Trea Turner are crushing the ball, while Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber have nine home runs each. The Phillies are playing some great baseball, and they could easily get back to the NLCS, and possibly the World Series, this season.
The Brewers deserve to be mentioned, as well. They lost some key components from their 2023 team, perhaps the biggest being their manager Craig Counsell. Despite that, the Brewers sit at the top of the NL Central. Milwaukee needs to continue playing well, but they are definitely a team to keep an eye on in the National League.
The AL Central is one of the more intriguing divisions in baseball. The Twins and Guardians are both trending in the right direction, and the race for the top spot will be tight. Cleveland and Minnesota are separated by just 2.5 games, but the Royals are right there in the mix, as well. In fact, the Tigers are just four games back, and the AL Central has four teams above .500.
Teams Trending Down
There are plenty of teams playing well, but there are also several teams off to a very rough start. The most notable of those teams is the Astros. Houston still has the sixth-best odds to win the World Series, but they are in last place in the AL West with just 12 wins through their first 35 games. The Astros have made the ALCS in each of the last seven seasons. However, there is a chance they miss the playoffs altogether this year.
The Rangers, Blue Jays, and Diamondbacks are all teams that were expected to be much better than they are playing, as well. The Rangers are in first in the AL West, which is scary for other teams considering they are not playing their best baseball. The Blue Jays sit four games under .500, and they are in last place in the AL East. Finally, the Diamondbacks are also under .500, but they are in third place in the NL West.
Final Thoughts
It seems like a two-horse race in the National League between the Dodgers and Braves (according to the odds). However, there are other teams that could easily make a run, so do not be fooled by the odds. Just last season, we saw the Diamondbacks make a surprising run to the World Series, and the Phillies did the same in 2022.
In the American League, the Yankees are the favorites, but the Orioles are a team that plenty of people think can win it all. The Rangers also have the talent to make a run back to the World Series, and they are going to get some huge pieces back from injury this summer. Do not forget about the AL Central, either. There are some sneaky teams in that division that could turn some heads if they continue to play well.
