RICOCHET DOMINATES IN WWE SPEED TOURNAMENT, ADVANCES TO FINALS

When WWE announced the concept of Speed, a series of lightning-quick matches with a three-minute time limit, those favored to do well were the promotion’s fastest superstars like Ricochet. And so perhaps it should come as no surprise that the speedy bullet, who’s quick as a puma, has advanced to the finals with a win over JD McDonagh.

The contest started with the two exchanging blows, with neither man gaining a clear advantage. McDonagh got some offense in, including a springboard moonsault, in his attempt to bring home another championship for Judgement Day.

But his pursuit went up in flames shortly after getting knocked to the outside with a superkick. Immediately, Ricochet followed up with a corkscrew dive that flattened the Judgment Day star. Back inside, Ricochet ate McDonagh’s knees as he attempted a shooting star press. But as he got up and stumbled into the corner, he kicked a charging McDonagh in the face before propelling himself off the second rope and catching McDonagh with a Canadian Destroyer to pick up the victory.

Next week, Johnny Gargano and “Big” Bronson Reed will meet in the last semifinal match to determine who will face Ricochet in the finals for the Speed Championship. But according to the man most believe the swift competition is tailored for, he’s already marked his territory.

“I made this popular. I made this mainstream. I’m the one they come to see,” said a victorious Ricochet.
