NASCAR ALL-STAR RACE STARTING ORDER AFTER QUALIFYING POSTPONED DUE TO FLOODING

Joey Logano will be on pole for Sunday's NASCAR All-Star Race after some dramatic weather ended Saturday's proceedings. A huge downpour at North Wilkesboro Speedway forced NASCAR chiefs to postpone the remainder of the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race until the following morning.

Furthermore, the All-Star heat races were canceled and the lineup for Sunday's main event was set by Saturday's qualifying results. Logano will be hoping to convert his pole after a slow start to the season.

The two-time Cup Series winner is yet to claim a victory in 2024 and has finished in the top 10 just three times, sitting 17th in the overall standings. "It's a very special pole, maybe the most special pole I've ever had because it's a great example of how hard everybody works and I'm proud of that," Logano said. "It's a lot of work that goes into the minute-and-a-half out there."

He added: "This qualifying session is the most fun session of the year. And it really takes the whole team. The car has to go fast. We have to execute getting onto pit road, the spotter has to do a good job of getting everyone on the same page and the pit crew has to do their part, and then it's back on to the track (to finish). So it really takes every crew member."

Logano will be joined on the front row by Brad Keselowski, who continues his good form having won last Sunday's Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway. Sitting behind Logano and Keselowski are Christopher Bell and Daniel Suarez, while Chris Buescher and Tyler Reddick meet in Row 3. Ross Chastain finished eighth in qualifying and will start Sunday's main event alongside Martin Truex Jr.

Michael McDowell and A.J. Allmendinger will start in ninth and 10th respectively, while Denny Hamlin's No. 11 car will ironically start the race from 11th on the grid. Legendary former champion Kevin Harvick filled in for Kyle Larson, who is attempting his first Indianapolis 500, ensuring the No. 5 car will start Sunday's big race in 12th. Larson is hoping to arrive at North Wilkesboro Speedway in time for the All-Star race, which starts at 8 pm ET. The All-Star Open race is slated for 5:30 pm ET.

A total of 17 drivers have already qualified for Sunday's All-Star race, with three drivers still to book their place. Two of those spots will go to the top two finishers of the All-Star Open race, while a fan vote will determine the 20th and final entrant.

Heavy rain was expected in North Carolina on Saturday, but Sunday's forecast is dry. North Wilkesboro Speedway issued a statement after Saturday's schedule was ended prematurely.

"Today's Wright Brand 250 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race has been postponed to 11:30 am ET Sunday," it read. "Today's All-Star Heat Races have been canceled. "Saturday and Sunday tickets will be honored tomorrow. Saturday ticketholders receive priority seating for the truck race, and Sunday ticketholders receive priority seating for the Cup races in cases of same-seat purchases."
