NASCAR TEAM PENALIZED FOR FAN BEHAVIOR ON SUNDAY

A NASCAR team has been hit with a penalty for its fan behavior on Sunday afternoon.

Veteran NASCAR Cup Series driver Austin Cindric was hit with a penalty for a fan being too close to his car during Sunday afternoon's race.

Team Penske was reportedly punished for "not following NASCAR directives," according to those at the race.

On3 had more:

Austin Cindric was having a solid day. He qualified in the top-10 and was running 17th at the end of the first stage. He hung around the top-15 and top-10 throughout the first part of this race.

The No. 2 team had a fan on their pit box to help dry it after the rain came through. NASCAR felt it was too close to the car and could have been used to help cool the car off. So, they issued a penalty.

Thankfully for Cindric, the penalty likely won't be too costly when it comes to his chances of reaching the playoffs.

Still, it's pretty wild to see a NASCAR team getting punished for fan behavior on the track.
