ANALYST SAYS BRONNY JAMES' CONTRACT 'DOESN'T MAKE SENSE'

It didn’t take long before the whole Bronny James narrative rubbed some NBA fans the wrong way.

Most people were rooting for him to team up with LeBron James in what will be one of the greatest stories in sports history.

However, the way things went down raised criticism, and now that he’s officially signed his rookie contract, things only got significantly worse.

Bronny was taken with the No. 55 pick, which should’ve granted him a two-way contract.

Instead, he got a four-year deal worth almost $8 million, with more than half of that guaranteed.

That’s why sports analyst Craig Carton sounded off on the Lakers over this decision.

He claimed that he wasn’t on board with this entire situation and that it just wasn’t right.

Talking on The Carton Show, he claimed that this contract wasn’t warranted or needed and that the Lakers were just rubbing salt in the wounds of all the other second-round picks who didn’t get this kind of privilege.

Truth be told, there’s nothing wrong with a father trying to set his son up for success, but this might not be a good look for the Lakers as an organization.

For years, people have talked about LeBron and Rich Paul holding the Lakers hostage, and that Rob Pelinka has no actual power here, and while we’re definitely not saying that’s the case, this doesn’t help turn that narrative around.

Hopefully, Bronny will prove all the critics wrong.

But regardless of his last name, and even if this isn’t the first example of nepotism in sports — nor will it be the last — things should be earned, not given.
