BOSTON CELTICS CHAMPION ANNOUNCES NBA FREE AGENCY DECISION

The Boston Celtics are still celebrating their NBA championship, but with free agency around the corner, the organization’s focus will soon have to shift. While free agency does not officially begin until the end of this month, a key portion of this transaction period is underway, as players and teams must make decisions on contract options before June 29th.

Teams were also permitted to begin negotiating with their own free agents once the Finals ended, which is why many deals have already been agreed-upon between players and their current teams.

As for the Celtics, they have already received unfortunate news from forward Oshae Brissett, as he will be opting out of his contract and entering free agency.

This does not close the door on Brissett’s time in Boston, as the two sides could still reach and agreement, but it seems the 26 year old forward wants to see what other options are out there for him. Appearing in 55 games last season, Brissett played just 11.5 minutes per contest, and could be seeking a bigger role elsewhere. In five career seasons, Brissett has averaged 17.3 minutes per game, scoring 6.5 points per game in those minutes.

While Brissett was not a huge piece of Boston’s rotation, he did have some solid minutes for them, and will always be an NBA champion.

This Boston group has a lot of chemistry, so it seems the front office will do all they can do keep it together, but anything can happen in free agency.
