DRAYMOND GREEN CONGRATULATES MONTY WILLIAMS ON GETTING FIRED

Earlier this week, shockwaves were sent throughout the NBA when the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers made two questionable moves regarding their leadership on the sideline.

After signing head coach Monty Williams to an enormous six-year deal worth $67.5 million, the Pistons were expected to make a drastic turnaround during the 2023-24 NBA season, as the team had committed to one of the best head coaches in the league in hopes of righting the ship in Detroit.

Unfortunately for the Pistons, the move to hire Williams appeared to be the wrong one, as he couldn’t get the team to win more than 14 games, which turned out to be a league-worst total.

In an unexpected move, the new Pistons brass decided to part ways with Williams after one season, which sparked a reaction from Michigan native and Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green.

“Congratulations to Monty Williams on getting fired by the Detroit Pistons after just one season,” Green added.

Green seems to think that Williams may have dodged a bad situation in Detroit, as there’s no way he could’ve turned things around in one season, especially when the team committed that much money to him.

Although many wondered whether Williams would immediately become a candidate for the Lakers job, Los Angeles decided to hire JJ Redick shortly after the Pistons parted ways with the veteran head coach.
