FEVER COACH CHRISTIE SIDES’ CAITLIN CLARK REQUEST DRAWS HONEST PAUL PIERCE TAKE

It has been an up-and-down year for Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. She has been inconsistent from the field and has found difficulty adjusting to the WNBA level. But, after the Fever lost to the Seattle Storm on Thursday night, head coach Christie Sides had a simple request for the rookie.

"Caitlin Clark needs to shoot at minimum 15 shots a game for us," Sides said. "She's gotta get shots, we got to do a better job of setting her up and setting some really good screens for her to get her open."

On Friday, former NBA player Paul Pierce spoke about Sides' request to Clark during an episode of Undisputed, and he agreed all the way.

"You don't have to tell me twice? Why not?" Pierce said. "Initially, she came into the league to me as a scorer...Now that your coach said it, what can your teammates say now?... So I agree with her...She needs to just be more aggressive."

Pierce added, "What she does best is put the ball in the basket," before saying "Your coach just verified you."

In the Fever's past 10 games, Clark has only taken 15 shots in one of those. She has taken fewer than 10 shots in two of those past 10 games.

But, as Pierce said, that's what she did in college. In her final year at Iowa, Clark averaged 31.6 PPG on an astounding 22.7 FGA (attempts per game). So, she is more than capable of being that shooter and scorer that Christie Sides is hoping she can be.

The Fever next plays at the Phoenix Mercury, so it will be interesting to see if Caitlin Clark takes her coach's advice to heart.
