WOMEN’S HOOPS ADDS 2X NAIA PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ELLA COLLIER

Ella Collier leaves Marian University as the school’s all-time leading scorer, a two-time national player of the year and a four-time All-American.

With her last year of eligibility, the standout guard decided to jump and head to West Lafayette to prove that her game translates to major division one hoops.

Collier spent one season under Coach Gearlds before she headed back to her Alma Mater to bring Purdue Women’s Hoops back to where it belongs, at the top. While the process has not shown immediate results, she has made the Boilers competitive again and the upward trajectory continues.

This past season, Collier averaged 19 points per game, 2.5 assists per game, and 3.7 rebounds per game. What stands out most when looking at her stats from the past two seasons at Marian is her long-range sniper ability.

She shot 42.5% from deep in the previous two seasons, one of the best averages in the nation at the NAIA level. Her shooting splits for her career are an impressive 54/45/94, shooting 54% from the field, 45% from deep, and 94% from the free throw line.

Now the back-to-back NAIA player of the year will get to prove herself in front of the best of Women’s College Basketball. Congratulations, Ella!
