CHICAGO BEARS RELEASE FIRST UNOFFICIAL DEPTH CHART

The first padded practice of the season is in the books and now the Chicago Bears have released their initial depth chart of the preseason.

The chart doesn’t mean much and should be seen as “unofficial.” And there are few surprises on it, for a team with very few starting position battles.

Caleb Williams is the only rookie listed as a starter, unless you count punter Tory Taylor, too but he has no other competition.

Rome Odunze is listed as the back up to Keenan Allen.

Center, where the only true starting battle is ongoing, lists Ryan Bates OR Coleman Shelton as the starter. No real edge there yet, although it was previously reported that Shelton got the first starter reps today.

The only other battle of note are the No. 2 running backs are listed as Khalil Herbert OR Roschon Johnson and No. 2 quarterbacks Tyson Bagent OR Brett Rypien. Also, on special teams, KO and PR is Velus Jones Jr. OR DeAndre Carter. Jones is listed first for KR and Carter listed first for PR, so make of that what you will.

Rookie Austin Booker is listed third behind Montez Sweat and Dominique Robinson at DE.
