REPORT: BOBBY MCMANN REMAINS POSSIBILITY FOR MAPLE LEAFS IN FIRST-ROUND SERIES AGAINST BRUINS, POTENTIALLY GAME 5 OR 6

The Toronto Maple Leafs could have Bobby McMann back before their series against the Boston Bruins concludes.

McMann is being evaluated daily, per TSN's Darren Dreger, and hasn't been ruled out of the series. The NHL insider also motioned that Game 5 or 6 could be when we could see the 28-year-old return.

The Athletic's Chris Johnston also reported that the forward is "eyeing a potential return before the end of the series."

McMann missed the final two games of the regular season because of a lower-body injury he suffered in the first period of Toronto's 5-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Apr. 13.

Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe called both he and William Nylander "possibilities" for Game 1, but as of right now, neither player has stepped foot in the series.

Nylander has taken part in skates with the scratches and a morning skate ahead of Game 3 in Toronto, but McMann hasn't been seen on the ice since their series against the Bruins began.

McMann was carving out an important role for himself within the Maple Leafs' top six alongside Mitch Marner and John Tavares. The forward had a career season in the NHL, scoring 15 goals and nine assists in 56 games.

"I mean, everyone plays a role, no matter big or small, but certainly his game has come on and his role has gotten larger and larger. And we'll miss him if he misses any time," Tavares said of McMann ahead of their series against the Bruins.

The forward signed a two-year, $2.7 million extension with Toronto on Mar. 13, which will see him remain with the Maple Leafs until 2026. McMann has never appeared in a game during the NHL's playoffs.
