COMPARING CAITLIN CLARK AND DIANA TAURASI STATS AHEAD OF SUNDAY'S MATCHUP

On Sunday, arguably the WNBA's biggest star of the last two decades faces a rookie primed to become one of the top players in the league.

Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi faces Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark. As individual matchups go, it doesn't get any bigger than this.

Clark has given effusive praise to Taurasi ahead of the matchup. The rookie identified the veteran player as the greatest scorer the league has seen.

Both players have impressive stats. Even 20 seasons into a strong career, Taurasi is one of the best statistical performers in the league.

This season, Taurasi is averaging 16.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.6 steals. The ability to maintain a high scoring average in a 20th season is certainly impressive.

Clark is having a good rookie season. The rookie averages 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 2024.

Undoubtedly, Clark will need to elevate her game for Indiana to be competitive. The Mercury, led by high scoring guards Taurasi and Kahleah Copper and star post player Brittney Griner, are 7-2 at home this season. The Fever are 3-8 on the road.

The Mercury (9-8) will look to maintain their winning record in the game against the Fever (7-12) on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.
