LECLERC GIVES ADVICE TO BEARMAN: 'DON'T DO THAT'

After replacing Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Oliver Bearman has now signed a contract to become a full-time Formula One driver from 2025 onwards with Haas. The driver who was his teammate for a single race, Charles Leclerc, had nothing but praise for the youngster.

"I know Olly very well, honestly I think he's such an incredibly talented driver," Leclerc began when talking to GPblog among others. "I think that what you need in your first year is always very specific to each driver, because it also depends on how much preparation you've had before getting there and I think Olly is very well prepared and he has shown that in Jeddah when he jumped in the car and was straight away very, very strong," the Monegasque driver commented on the Briton.

Leclerc's advice

Leclerc did have one advice for Bearman. "I think one typical advice that I will give him is to not put himself under too much pressure. He's still very, very young, and the speed, he has it. He has showed it several times. He's not having an easy season, as the team is struggling a little bit in F2, quite a lot actually, but he's incredibly fast and I have no doubt that he will be a super fast in Formula One."

Similarly to Bearman, Leclerc was also driving in Ferrari's junior programme, and then signed with a team that had Ferrari engines, Sauber at the time. "He just needs to take his time, make the mistakes that he needs to [make] in order to learn and to become a better driver and not put yourself under too much pressure because that's where sometimes you can perform a little bit less, not at your optimum potential. So yeah just go for it and enjoy it," this year's Monaco GP winner concluded.
