MICHIGAN WOLVERINES MAKE MAJOR 2026 DEFENSIVE OFFER

Months after their National Championship triumph, the Michigan Wolverines are intensifying their recruitment efforts, setting their sights on Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County’s standout defensive end, Jordan Carter.

As one of the most coveted players in the 2026 class, Carter recently announced an offer from the Wolverines, adding them to an extensive list of over 25 college programs vying for his commitment.

At 6-4 and 235 pounds, Carter has distinguished himself as a formidable presence on the field. In his sophomore year, he amassed 84 tackles, 15 sacks, and 14 tackles for loss, emerging as the linchpin of the Tigers’ defense.

His performance has earned him the No. 2 spot among defensive ends nationwide and the No. 10 spot overall in the 247Sports.com Composite Ranking.

Carter’s recruitment is becoming increasingly competitive, with recent visits to NC State, Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida.

Michigan’s recruitment strategy will need to be proactive to attract a talent of Carter’s caliber, who has demonstrated his ability in his Hudl highlight reel, overpowering blockers with his strength and finishing tackles with force.

Despite his clear impact, the recruiting community has yet to predict where Carter will commit. Should he choose Michigan, he would become the highest-ranked defensive lineman to commit to the Wolverines since Rashan Gary in 2016.

This comparison underscores the significance of his potential commitment, paralleling the recent commitment of Nate Marshall, the No. 4 ranked defensive lineman from the 2025 class.

The involvement of Michigan DL coach Lou Esposito is expected in Carter’s recruitment, though it’s noteworthy that Carter mentioned U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy in his offer announcement, indicating ongoing communication.

As the Michigan Wolverines continue their pursuit, Carter’s decision is one that many fans of many different teams are anxiously awaiting.
