New Season and Personal Bests on Busy Friday

Friday saw the Oregon track and field team achieve a total of 10 personal and season bests across the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA, and the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field. Notable performances included Klaudia Kazmierska’s second-place finish in the 800 meters at Hayward Field and freshman Osawese Agbonkonkon’s debut collegiate win in the high jump at Mt. SAC.

Kazmierska secured a runner-up position with a new lifetime best of 2:03.28. This achievement followed closely on the heels of her collegiate personal best of 4:08.43 in the 1500 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational just six days prior. The presence of former UO stars Raevyn Rogers and Brooke Feldmeier added to the competitive atmosphere, with Rogers claiming victory in 2:02.00 and Feldmeier finishing sixth with a time of 2:06.40.

Agbonkonkon impressed with a final clearance of 2.13m/6-11.75 in the high jump, marking a season’s best and securing the top spot in the ‘B’ flight of the collegiate high jump event. This performance propelled him to the lead in the Pac-12 standings, surpassing his previous season’s best of 2.10 meters from the indoor season.

Anthony Trucks delivered a lifetime-best performance, winning his heat and finishing third overall in the collegiate section of the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.12 seconds. Despite knocking the first barrier, Trucks managed a late surge, improving by five-hundredths of a second from his previous best at last year’s Pac-12 Championships.

Freshman Lakely Doht-Barron continued the trend of personal bests, clocking in at 54.06 seconds in the 400 meters, surpassing her previous outdoor season best of 55.66 from the Brutus Hamilton meet on April 6. Caleb Hagan (10.58) and Lily Jones (11.47) led the charge in the 100 meters with their season-best performances.

Isabella Nilsen cleared 4.01m/13-1.75 to secure sixth place in the ‘A’ collegiate pole vault, achieving her second 13-foot clearance of the outdoor season, while Madyson Kannon achieved a personal best of 1:02.04 in the 400 meters for the second time this season.
