15-YO MILES RUSSELL LAUDS TWO PGA TOUR SENIORS FOR HELPING HIM WITH HIS 'NERVOUS' DEBUT

Amateur Miles Russell made his debut on the PGA Tour at the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic. The tournament is being held at Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Michigan.

The 15-year-old Russell carded 2-over 74 in the first round at the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic. He started on the back nine and scored a bogey on the 10th hole. On the front nine, Russell scored a birdie on the par-4 3rd hole.

However, the major blow of the day came on the par-4 6th hole, where he made a double bogey. He notched a birdie on the 7th hole and finished with a bogey on the 9th hole.

In the post-round press conference, Miles Russell was asked about how nervous he was on his first tee. He said (via Ten Golf):

"I was a little nervous. I probably give it like a seven but that's probably my best drive of the day. Should have been nervous all day. But it was a good day. It settled in nicely." (0:33-0:40)

Talking about teeing along with Pierceson Coody and Rico Hoey in the first round, he said (via Ten Golf):

"Pierceson and Rico, they were great today. I mean walking off first tee they helped keep me loose. And I think it was a cool experience for all of us. But really cool for me. But I don't know if I could ask for better grouping." (2:58-3:13)

He further said he didn't perform his best in the first round on his debut at the PGA Tour. He stated that he observed Parker Coody, Pierceson Coody, and Rico Hoey grind out their game and score a couple of strokes under par. Both Pierceson and Rico scored 3 under par, while Parker scored 1 under par. He said he could have done the same but made a few unfortunate errors.

Miles Russell is currently tied at the 128th position and will have to considerably improve his score in the second round to make it to the weekend.

Miles Russell recently made his debut on the Korn Ferry Tour

15-year-old Miles Russell debuted on the Korn Ferry Tour at the LECOM Suncoast Classic. He was given a sponsor exemption for the tournament and made the most of it, scoring rounds of 68, 66, 70, and 66. He finished tied at the T20 position and earned an exemption to the Veritex Bank Championship. However, he failed to make the cut after 4-under 138 in 36 holes.

Russell is currently the No. 1 in AJGA rankings. He became a sensation after winning the Juniors Players Championship in 2023. His performances in the AJGA tournaments in 2023 are as follows:
