TATIANA SUAREZ EXPLAINS ONE-DIMENSIONAL MMA GRAPPLING IN WOMEN: 'YOU DON'T SEE AN ARRAY OF SUBMISSIONS...'

Tatiana Suarez recently had some criticism for both Zhang Weili and female fighters in general.

Suarez was recently asked about UFC Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili's grappling during an interview with ESPN MMA. Suarez was quick to suggest that she is a superior grappler to the champ.

"I just think, like, I'm a really great grappler so, in that instance, I don't think that she's better than me," Suarez said. "I think that I'm better than her because I've been wrestling since I was very, very young, and I know that doesn't mean much, like, in terms of, like, MMA, but I have done the sequences more than her, longer than her."

During the same interview, Suarez further doubled down on her stance on the champ's grappling, listing her own vast array of submissions along the way.

"I just think that I'm a better grappler than her," Suarez said. "Even, like, submission-wise, like, I have an array of submissions. I don't have just a rear-naked choke, like, if you look at my resumé, you know, like, I have, like, really good guillotine, I have a very good rear-naked choke, I have a very good D'Arce, I have a very good anaconda, I have a good head-and-arm, I could go for armbars."

Suarez's thoughts on the matter didn't just stop at Zhang Weili either. She went on to suggest that female competitors, across both grappling and MMA, are simply not on her level when it comes to how mnay submissions holds they have in their repertoires.

"If you really look at the women grapplers, or just women in-general fighters, you don't see an array of, like, submissions," Suarez said. "I, in particular, have that gift from wrestling."
